കേരള സംസ്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യരൂപത്തില്‍ മൊത്തം അഞ്ചു ജില്ലകളാണുണ്ടായിരുന്നത്. തിരുവിതാംകൂറിലെ തോവാള, അഗസ്തീശ്വരം, കല്‍ക്കുളം, വിളവങ്കോട് താലൂക്കുകളും ചെങ്കോട്ടത്താലൂക്കിന്റെ ഒരു ഭാഗവും വേര്‍പെടുത്തി മദിരാശി സംസ്ഥാനത്തോടു ചേര്‍ത്തു.ശേഷിച്ച തിരുകൊച്ചി സംസ്ഥാനത്തോടു മലബാര്‍ ജില്ലയും തെക്കന്‍ കാനറാ ജില്ലയിലെ കാസര്‍കോടു താലൂക്കും ചേര്‍ക്കപ്പെട്ടു. ഫലത്തില്‍ കന്യാകുമാരി ജില്ലകേരളത്തിനു നഷ്ടപ്പെടുകയും ഗൂഡല്ലൂര്‍ ഒഴികെയുള്ള മലബാര്‍ പ്രദേശം കേരളത്തോടു ചേര്‍ക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു. 1957 ഫെബ്രുവരി 28 നായിരുന്നു കേരളത്തിലെ ആദ്യ പൊതുതിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ്. ആ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പി ഇഎംഎസ് മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയായുള്ള സര്‍ക്കാര്‍ അധികാരത്തില്‍ വന്നു.കേരളത്തെ കൂടാതെ കണാടക, ഹരിയാന, മധ്യപ്രദേശ്, ഛത്തീസ് ഗഡ് എന്നീ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങരൂപം കൊണ്ടതു നവംബ 1 നാണ്. നവംബ 1 കേരളത്തിനെപ്പോലെ ഈ സംസ്ഥാനക്കാക്കും ഏറെ പ്രധാനപ്പെട്ടതാണ്.

What is Teacher Education?

                      

                                   Socially, politically and economically the world is changing at a dramatic rate. Hence, it is certainly not possible to foresee any slowing in the pace over the next decade. As the world has changed, so has the school, and so has what we mean by teaching and by learning.  The teacher-student relationship is far more complex and demanding than ever before.  The implication of this more diversified role for the teacher is what impelled a new view of the process of teacher education and training.  Thus, teacher education is seen as a continuous process, beginning with a phase of initial training and continuing throughout the teacher’s professional life throughout regular and sustained periods of in-service training.  Maintaining the view that a teacher must remain a learner during the scope of their service is mandatory.

According to teacher education “addresses environmental, social, and economic contexts to create locally relevant and culturally appropriate teacher education programmes for both pre-service and in-service teachers.”

Teacher education generally includes four elements: improving the general educational background of the trainee teachers; increasing their knowledge and understanding of the subjects they are to teach; pedagogy and understanding of children and learning; and the development of practical skills and competences. The balance between these four elements varies widely
